What is Acne?

Acne is a common occurrence of inflamed sebaceous glands that plug up with oil and dead skin cells. There is a reason they call it "common acne" because everyone is most likely to get it. Once greasy secretions from skin's sebaceous glands are clogged up small bumps begin to form. The clogs take form of whiteheads and blackheads, or, swollen infected areas such as cysts, or, nodules. In most cases teens are mainly affected due to puberty and hormone changes in the body. Though acne does not just happen to teens it also occurs in young adults. For example, adult acne is caused by stress, menopause, lithium, anti-seizure drugs, hormonal changes, corticosteriods, and changing or stopping birth control. In conclusion acne developement is not fully understood. People who leave their teens acne free may end up with adult-onset acne. The best choice is to wash your face regularly and keep your skin oil free.
